GENERAL INFORMATION |

King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel is one of the most historic sites in all of Hawaii. King Kamehameha the Great established his royal residence adjacent to the current site of his namesake hotel. During his reign he rebuilt Ahu'ena Heiau, a temple dedicated to Lono who was the Hawaiian God of peace, agriculture and prosperity. Here Kamehameha the Great lived and conducted matters of government, until his passing on May 8, 1819.
King Kamehameha's residence included all of Kamakahonu, the bay around which the hotel is focused. Besides homes, his residence also had numerous fishponds and gardens.
The hotel is filled with many exquisite and historic artifacts and depictions of 18th Century Hawaiian life. Among many of King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel's treasures are a fascinating mural, portraits of Hawaiian royalty, Ahu'ula (treasured feather cape), Mahi'ole (feather helmet), Pahu Heiau (temple drum), Lei Hulu (feather wreaths), Lei Nio Palaoa (whales tooth pendant), war weapons, ancient Hula instruments, and displays of domestic and agricultural artifacts.

Providing hair treatments and cuts as well as styling, Reflections is conveniently located adjacent to the lobby of the hotel.
Valet Laundry & Dry Cleaning
Arrangements for same-day dry-cleaning and laundry service may be made through the Bell Desk. Laundry that is picked up by 9:00 a.m. is returned by 8:00 p.m. that day. These services are available daily except on Sundays and holidays.

Nearby Attractions
Kailua-Kona Town
Just on the doorstep of King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, Kailua is a picturesque village and the hub of the west side of the Big Island. The town provides a leisurely shopping, browsing and sightseeing opportunities, and a great place to relax with a refreshing drink and watch the world go by.
Hulihee Palace
About a 10-minute walk from King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, Hulihee Palace was the summer residence of Hawaiian royalty. Built in 1838 and serving as a museum today, the Palace is operated by the Daughters of Hawaii and houses a collection of Hawaiian artifacts and personal memorabilia of 19th century Hawaiian royalty.
Mokuaikaua Church
Across the street from Hulihee Palace is the oldest church in the Hawaiian Islands. Mokuaikaua Church was build by western missionaries in the 1820's and is open to the public.
Ali'i Drive
A scenic route southward from King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, Ali'i Drive passes popular beaches and provides wonderful views of the ocean and coastline.
Place of Refuge
A national park and located approximately 30 miles south of the hotel, Pu'uhonua O Honaunau, the Place of Refuge, is open daily to the public. During the early years of Hawaiian civilization, the Place of Refuge was a sacred sanctuary for people who broke kapu (sacred laws). Kapu-breakers' lives would be saved only if they could safely reach this area. Features at the park include ancient fishponds, thatched roof homes, heiau or temples and ancient rock walls. Live demonstrations of ancient Hawaiian craft such as the building of canoes and tikis are also held in the park.
Places of Interest
South Kona
Historical and scenic sites that include the Place of Refuge and the Painted Church nestled along the hillside overlooking Kealakekua Bay, where famous explorer Captain Cook met his fate in 1779.
Volcanoes National Park
Approximately 95 miles east from Kona, the park is open 24 hours daily all year round. An entrance fee gains you access to the park and the Kilauea Visitor Center. Also inside the park are the Thomas A. Jaggar Museum, The Volcano House, Thurston Lava Tube and scenic vistas.
Hilo and the East Coast
Hawaii's second largest city, Hilo is the administrative capital of the Big Island and full of interesting diversions. At the north end of town along the Wailuku River is Rainbow Falls. Northward of Hilo is Waipio Valley with its scenic gorges.

How to get to the hotel? |

From Keahole Kona International
Turn right from the airport exit to take State Hwy 19 (Queen Kaahumanu Hwy) south for about 6.3 miles. Turn right on Palani Rd, and the hotel is on the right.
Getting there
The best option from the airport is a rental car, especially since most guests will want a car anyway for sightseeing. Taxis are also available.
Getting around
There are restaurants, shops, and activities right in Kailua-Kona, within a short walk or taxi ride of the hotel. Most attractions on the Big Island, however, are best reached by car.

Price & Payment
Unless otherwise stated, at the time of booking only a deposit is due. The remanining balance is payable on check-in and charged by the hotel direct. hotel-savings.com accepts Visa, Mastercard & American Express.
For security purposes, should your reservation incur a charge in excess of USD 400.00, you must submit a signed credit card authorization form. This will be supplied upon confirmation of the reservation. If you fail to fax across this documentation within 48 hours, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation. Please note that as per our cancellation policy, there may be a fee for this.
Flight Information
If you are to arrive at your hotel after 5pm, please provide Hotelrentalgroup with your flight information, so that we may be able to advise the hotel of what time they can expect you. Should your flight be delayed, we strongly recommend that you contact the hotel directly to inform them of this.
Period of Stay / Rate Calculation
All stays are calculated and sold "per night". We can only guarantee a room until noon (12pm). Late check-outs can be requested at the moment of reservation in the additional comments box, but may come at an additional fee (usually 50% of the nightly rate).
Cancellation Policies & Charges
Cancellations must be received in writing by e-mail, with as much notice as possible. Penalty fees may apply. Please check the terms & conditions, as these policies vary from hotel to hotel.

Your final confirmation will be sent to you on your official confirmation voucher within 24 hours, unless, due to unforeseen circumstances, the hotel does not get back to us within this time frame. hotel-savings.com is not responsible for any such delays.
Early departures
In addition to the standard cancellation policy, we would like to stress the point that the hotels are very strict regarding changes to the length of clients’ stays. Therefore we would like to inform you that clients departing before their booked check out date will be charged for the remaining nights and, no being made for unused nights.
Check In & Check Out Policy
Your room will be made available to you from 14h00 (unless stated otherwise in the terms & conditions of the hotel). Should you require a guaranteed early check in, the room must be booked and paid for in full for the day preceeding your stay.
Check out time is 12:00 hrs. For a guaranteed late check-out, clients should book for an additional night, charged at 100%.
